This book, accompanying the exhibition Liquid Tongues, held at the Polish Pavilion as part of the 61st International Art Exhibition—La Biennale di Venezia, edited by curators Ewa Chomicka and Jolanta Woszczenko, expands on the themes explored in the audio-video installation by Bogna Burska and Daniel Kotowski. The exhibition explores stories of loss and reconstruction—from the rebirth of whale cultures to contemporary attempts to reclaim languages and narratives marginalized by dominant communication systems. This publication collects essays by renowned researchers working in fields related to underwater life, interpersonal and interspecies communication, and the art of translation.
